Tragedy struck early Saturday morning as 39-year-old Jennifer L. Ayo of Covington lost her life in a devastating three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 36 and Highway 3241.
The collision occurred around 7:30 a.m., according to Louisiana State Police Troop L. Authorities report that Jennifer was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro southbound on LA 3241 when she entered the intersection and crossed into the westbound lane of LA 36. Her vehicle was struck by a 2010 Honda Fit traveling west. The impact pushed Jennifer’s car into the eastbound lane, where it was hit again by a 2009 Ford F-150.
Sadly, Jennifer was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was only 39 years old, a woman whose life was cut far too short. The driver of the Honda suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital, while the driver of the Ford sustained moderate injuries and was also hospitalized. Both were wearing seatbelts.
Louisiana State Police have collected routine toxicology samples from all three drivers, and the crash remains under investigation.
Jennifer’s passing is a deep loss to her family, friends, and the Covington community. She will be remembered not just for the tragic way she was taken, but for the life she lived before — one filled with love, connection, and meaning to those around her.
As we await answers, let us hold Jennifer’s memory close, offer comfort to her grieving loved ones, and keep all others impacted by this crash in our thoughts and prayers.
May Jennifer L. Ayo rest in eternal peace.
