At 79, Howard had lived a life of profound purpose, guided by an unwavering commitment to his faith and an immeasurable love for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Twyla, for nearly 58 years, a loving father to his sons, Mike and Tim, and a doting grandfather and great-grandfather. Howard’s life was a testament to the power of a gentle spirit and a kind heart. He was a pillar of strength and a source of comfort to his family, whose lives he enriched with his quiet wisdom and steadfast love. Though he has left this world, the beautiful memories of his kindness and his deep faith will forever be a source of strength for all who mourn his passing.
A Legacy of Service and Many Talents
Rev. Howard Wayne Blackburn was a man of many talents and an inspiring commitment to service in all aspects of his life. Beyond his work as a skilled machinist, he dedicated his life to sharing the gospel, serving as an ordained minister and evangelist. His passion for spreading a message of hope led him to serve for two years on an Indian Reservation in Arizona, where he touched countless lives with his compassion. Howard’s service to his country was equally commendable; he was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served honorably during the Vietnam War. In his personal time, his hands were rarely still, as he found joy in woodworking and even crocheting, creating beautiful treasures that his family will cherish for generations. Howard’s life was a masterclass in dedication—to his faith, his country, his family, and his community.
