A tragic head-on collision occurred near the intersection of White Rock Road and Grant Line Road, situated just east of Rancho Cordova, leading to one fatality and multiple injuries, authorities reported on Tuesday. The involved vehicles were a Hyundai Elantra and a Subaru Impreza, with the impact happening approximately at 4:30 p.m.
The 21-year-old individual operating the Hyundai Elantra, identified as Malakai Piper from Turlock, did not survive the incident and died due to the collision’s severity. The passenger within the Elantra, who is a minor, and the operator of the Subaru Impreza both sustained significant injuries and were transported to a regional medical facility for treatment.
Investigators with the California Highway Patrol East Sacramento are examining the reasons behind the crash. At this time, no definitive conclusions have been drawn regarding potential involvement of substances such as drugs or alcohol.
