A Life Cut Short: Remembering Corey Thompson
On Monday, August 25, 2025, the world lost an incredible soul far too soon. Corey Jackson Thompson, 39, passed away at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer. His passing has left a void that words cannot fill and hearts that will never truly heal. Born on July 12, 1986, in Blacksburg, VA, Corey grew up in Narrows, where he built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Corey was a proud Green Wave, a 2004 graduate of Narrows High School, and someone whose hard work and determination defined his life. He spent ten years with McGrady and Perdue Heating and Air in Christiansburg before pursuing his entrepreneurial dream as a co-owner of Right Turn, Clyde Brewing Co. from 2015 to 2017. But beyond his work, Corey’s greatest pride and joy were his family and two young sons, who lit up his world.
A Man Full of Life, Passion, and Love
Corey’s life was filled with adventure and joy. He loved the outdoors and spent countless hours playing disc golf, kayaking, hiking, and enjoying nature. A lifelong sports fan, Corey cheered for UVA and the San Francisco 49ers with unmatched enthusiasm. Music was another great love of his—especially Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, with AC/DC holding a special place in his heart.
But what truly defined Corey was his love for his family. Every moment with his wife, Lindsey, and their two sons was treasured beyond measure. Whether on trips to Harker’s Island, NC, or spending time with family in Bath County, VA, Corey embraced life with open arms. His laughter was contagious, his heart was kind, and his presence made life brighter for everyone who knew him.
