Vincen MillerMarcus J Miller Obituary, Death; Amish Mom ‘Intentionally’ Drove 3 Kids into Lake Before Husband and 4-Year-Old Found Dead on Dock

Father and Son Lost in Heartbreaking Lake Tragedy During Family Vacation

A peaceful weekend by Atwood Lake turned into a devastating tragedy after 4-year-old Vincen Miller and his father, 45-year-old Marcus J. Miller, both from Millersburg, Ohio, were found dead under disturbing and deeply heartbreaking circumstances. The incident has rocked the Amish community and drawn national attention as authorities now suspect that the act may have been intentional, driven by a severe mental health crisis.

According to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, the tragedy began when deputies responded to a golf cart accident involving a woman and her three teenage children on August 23, 2025. During the interaction, the woman made troubling statements about “conversing with God” — remarks that immediately alarmed officers and prompted a welfare check on the remaining family members, specifically the woman’s husband and youngest child.

Later that day, the body of young Vincen was discovered lifeless at the edge of a dock. His father, Marcus, was reported missing until the following day, when he too was found deceased near the same location. The heartbreaking scene has left a family shattered and a community in mourning.

“Given to the Lord”: Spiritual Delusion May Have Led to Unthinkable Loss

Investigators believe the incident was not accidental. Authorities have expressed growing concern that the mother may have been suffering from spiritual delusions, which led her to allegedly intentionally drive her children into the lake. She reportedly told a witness that she had “given her son to the Lord.” Police have confirmed that she is currently receiving treatment for mental health issues and have not yet filed any charges, pending further evaluation.

Miraculously, her three older children — a 15-year-old daughter and 18-year-old twin sons — managed to escape the water and were physically unharmed. However, they are now left traumatized and grieving the unimaginable loss of their younger brother and father.

The Amish community, known for its strength and quiet faith, has been shaken by this tragedy. Candlelight vigils and private prayer services are being held across Holmes and Tuscarawas counties as loved ones struggle to cope with a grief so profound and sudden.

Remembering Vincen and Marcus: A Bond That Cannot Be Broken

Marcus J. Miller was known as a gentle father, a devoted husband, and a man of unwavering faith. His life centered around family and community, and his presence brought strength and calm to those around him. Little Vincen, just 4 years old, was full of innocence and wonder — a boy whose life had only just begun, whose laughter once echoed through their home.

Their deaths have left an irreplaceable void, not only in the Miller family but across an entire community bound by faith, simplicity, and love. As authorities await autopsy results to determine the final causes of death, one truth remains certain: the love shared between Marcus and Vincen endures beyond this world.

May their souls find eternal peace, and may those left behind find healing in time. Rest in peace, Marcus and Vincen. You are forever in our hearts.
