Burnham’s life was abruptly cut short when a 21-year-old man driving a Honda Accord collided with him. Sgt. Jonathan Torres of the CHP told City News Service that the driver was unable to swerve or stop in time due to the unexpected presence of Burnham in or near the road. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Corey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are still working to determine the precise circumstances of the incident—whether Corey was walking in the roadway, crossing, or on the shoulder remains unknown.
