The community of Falkville is grieving the loss of Karen Banks, 74, who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 28, 2025. A woman whose life was a testimony of love, faith, and service, Karen touched countless lives through her compassion, kindness, and unwavering devotion to God.
Her dedication to her church family was profound. For 15 years, Karen faithfully served as the church secretary at First Baptist Church in Falkville, where her gentle spirit and tireless work made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Beyond her secretarial role, she gave her time and energy to mission work, both locally and abroad, embodying her Savior’s love through service. Those who worked alongside her remember her as a woman of deep faith and humble generosity, always ready to give her heart and hands for others.
A Devoted Wife, Loving Family Woman, and Cherished Friend
Karen’s love for her family was boundless. Married to her beloved husband, Raymond, for 38 years, the couple shared a life full of laughter, devotion, and faith. Through their marriage, Karen was blessed with two sons, daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She cherished every moment with them and created memories that will be treasured for generations.
Her nurturing love extended far beyond her immediate family. Karen poured her heart into her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, treating each as though they were her own children and grandchildren. Her home was always filled with warmth, joy, and a sense of belonging—qualities that reflected her genuine care for others.
In addition to her role as wife and grandmother, Karen was a beloved sister, sharing a special bond with her two brothers and two sisters. She also deeply valued her cousins, who held an irreplaceable place in her heart. Family gatherings were among her greatest joys, and she will forever be remembered for the love she shared at every table and every celebration.

Her work was not confined to hospitals; she took her healing hands across the globe as a travel nurse, spending months at a time serving in foreign countries. When she wasn’t serving in hospitals, on mission trips, or in church, Karen’s joy could be found in the kitchen. Known for her cooking and catering, especially her delicious desserts, she shared love in every meal she prepared. To Karen, food was more than nourishment—it was ministry, a way of expressing her care and hospitality to those around her.
