Vanished Without a Trace: A Mother’s Worst Nightmare Unfolds

Milwaukee, WI — What began as a routine day for the Norwood family turned into a devastating nightmare. On July 28, 2025, 13-year-old Jamyla Norwood was reported missing by her mother after a horrifying phone call ended in silence—and was followed by ominous, anonymous text messages claiming Jamyla was dead. Her last known location was near N. 24th St. and W. Burleigh St., and since then, there has been no direct contact.

Jamyla’s mother, who had been speaking to her daughter on the phone, suddenly overheard a disturbing threat. A female voice in the background was reportedly heard saying she was going to “beat Jamyla and push her down the stairs.” The call abruptly disconnected. Moments later, the mother’s phone buzzed again—this time, with terrifying text messages from an unknown number stating Jamyla was already dead.

“Critically Missing”: Police and Community Mobilize in Desperate Search

Milwaukee Police have classified Jamyla as a critically missing person, indicating there is reason to believe she is in immediate danger. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Described as Black, 5’3” tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, Jamyla was last seen wearing a pink bonnet, black T-shirt, blue jeans, and yellow-and-black shoes. Police believe she may be on foot, as she likely has no access to transportation.

The surrounding community has rallied in support, organizing volunteer search parties and sharing Jamyla’s image across social media. Local organizations have also stepped in to spread awareness, and there is growing pressure for the case to be treated as a possible abduction or human trafficking situation due to the chilling nature of the threats received.

A Plea From a Heartbroken Mother: “Please Help Bring My Baby Home”

Through tears and urgency, Jamyla’s mother has pleaded with the public for help. “My baby wouldn’t run away. Someone has her, and I need her home,” she said in an emotional statement. “If you know something—anything—please come forward. She’s just a little girl.”

As each hour passes, fears grow. The emotional toll on the family is immense, but so is their determination. Milwaukee Police continue to investigate and follow leads, while community support swells both online and offline.

This isn’t just a news story—it’s a family’s real-life horror. A 13-year-old child is out there, possibly afraid and alone, or worse. If you have any information, no matter how small, please contact the Milwaukee Police Department immediately.
