It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vladislav Gryshchenko, a beloved student at Waterloo Collegiate Institute in Kitchener, Ontario.
Vladislav passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a heartbroken community of family, friends, classmates, and educators who will forever remember the light he brought into their lives.
Vladislav, often affectionately called “Vlad” by those closest to him, was more than just a student—he was a kind soul with a sharp mind, a compassionate heart, and a spirit full of promise.
Teachers described him as thoughtful and engaged, someone who approached his studies with curiosity and determination. He was especially gifted in mathematics and science, and often took extra time to help his classmates understand challenging material, always willing to lend a hand without expecting anything in return.

Outside the classroom, Vladislav was a quiet but joyful presence. He loved spending time with friends, exploring new ideas through reading, and participating in extracurricular activities such as chess club and robotics.
He had a keen interest in technology and dreamed of one day pursuing a career in engineering or computer science. His ambitions were driven by a sincere desire to contribute something meaningful to the world—an outlook that inspired many of those around him.
At home, Vladislav was a devoted son and a caring sibling. His family was the center of his life, and he often spoke proudly of his Ukrainian roots and the values instilled in him from a young age: humility, perseverance, and kindness.
Those who knew him best will remember his gentle nature, quiet determination, and the subtle way he made others feel seen and appreciated. His sudden and tragic passing has left an immeasurable void.
