A Life That Began with a Twist
On May 5, 1957, in Baytown, Texas, a little girl named Judy Faye Young entered the world—and from the very start, her story was anything but ordinary. In a mix-up that became a family legend, her birth was officially recorded as May 6 when the doctor returned to town the next day. Judy would laugh about it over the years, a reminder that life doesn’t always fit neatly into boxes—and neither did she. Judy lived boldly, loved deeply, and gave of herself freely in ways that touched countless lives.
A Heart Devoted to Service and Family
On August 26, 2025, Judy took her final breath at her home in Thornton, Arkansas, with her loving husband of 51 years, Dan, holding her hand. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love—a partnership marked by devotion, faith, and joy through life’s seasons. Judy’s heart for others shone brightest in her decades of service. She gave 37 years to the Bearden School District in roles that ranged from teacher’s aide to bookkeeper, always leaving a mark of kindness and grace. Her voice lifted the sanctuary choir at First Baptist Church in Thornton, where she also poured energy into Vacation Bible School and countless other ministries.
Her family was her greatest treasure. Whether decorating cakes for birthdays, cheering from the bleachers at her grandkids’ games, or sharing laughs over Sunday dinners, Judy poured love into every moment. Her creative spirit and giving heart made her home a place of warmth, laughter, and open arms.
A Legacy of Love That Will Never Fade
Judy’s reach extended beyond family and church into her community. Her passion for the Girl Scouts of America led to the creation of the beloved “Girl Scout Camp” at Tri-County Lake—a haven where young girls discovered friendship and confidence. Cookie season often turned her home into a bustling hub of boxes and laughter, another reflection of her selfless heart.
