A Life of Dedication and Hard Work
The Lexington community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Robert Earl Hayes, age 83, who passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. For more than four decades, Robert worked as a construction superintendent, leaving a lasting imprint on nearly every county in West Tennessee. His expertise, dedication, and work ethic shaped communities, built structures that will stand for years to come, and inspired those who had the privilege of working by his side.
But Robert’s contributions extended far beyond his professional career. He was known for his devotion to family and community, embodying the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness. To those who knew him, Robert was not just a builder of projects—he was a builder of relationships, values, and lives.
A Passion for Coaching and Mentorship
In addition to his construction career, Robert spent 20 years coaching girls’ and women’s softball, dedicating countless hours to training, guiding, and mentoring young athletes. His love for the game was second only to his love for seeing others succeed. Players and families alike recall his steady encouragement, his passion for teamwork, and his unwavering belief in the potential of every player.
Robert’s influence went far beyond the ballfield. Through coaching, he instilled confidence, resilience, and discipline in his players—life lessons that many carried with them long after their time on the team. His legacy as a mentor is reflected in the countless lives he touched, both on and off the diamond.
Remembering a Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather
Above all, Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, parent, and grandparent. His greatest pride was his family, and he embraced every role with love and commitment. To his loved ones, he was a guiding light, a source of wisdom, and a man whose laughter and kindness filled every room he entered.
Friends and family describe Robert as someone who lived with integrity, cared deeply for others, and always put his family first. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
