The family, originally from Thetford in England, were traveling on the IP2 main road in Portugal’s Algarve region when their vehicle collided with another car. The violent impact claimed not only their lives but also that of the other driver. Local authorities immediately declared a two-day period of mourning in Mourão, the municipality where the tragedy occurred, as the entire community reeled from the loss.
