Innocence Stolen: 11-Year-Old Dominic Davis Gunned Down in Cincinnati Mass Shooting
Cincinnati, OH – A city mourns, a school community grieves, and a family faces unimaginable loss after 11-year-old Dominic Davis was tragically killed in a senseless act of violence on a November night in 2023. What began as a peaceful evening near Laurel Playground in the West End neighborhood turned into a horrific nightmare as a dark-colored sedan pulled up and fired 22 bullets into a group of innocent people.
Dominic, a student at Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy, died at the scene. Among the five others wounded were four other children — ages 12, 13, and two 15-year-olds — along with a 53-year-old woman. The children were rushed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and the others received treatment at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
This tragedy is more than numbers—it’s the heartbreaking story of a young boy whose future was stolen in an instant.
🔍 Community on Edge, ATF Increases Reward to Find Killer
Nearly a year later, no arrests have been made, and justice remains painfully out of reach for Dominic’s family. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has now raised the reward to $7,500 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting.
Authorities say the shooter fired from inside a moving vehicle around 9:30 p.m. near Jones and Wade Streets, targeting a group standing outside. This brazen act of violence left behind blood, trauma, and deep-rooted fear in a community already struggling with gun violence.
“Someone knows who did this,” a local advocate shared during a community vigil. “An 11-year-old boy lost his life. The silence has to end.”
🕯️ Remembering Dominic: A Life That Deserved So Much More
Described as bright, friendly, and full of potential, Dominic Davis loved school, laughter, and spending time with friends. He was known to his teachers and classmates as someone who brought warmth and joy to every room he entered.
Now, his desk sits empty. His classmates are left asking questions no child should have to ask. A growing memorial near the site of the shooting has become a place for reflection, grief, and desperate pleas for change.
Dominic’s family, devastated by the loss, continues to fight for justice—not only for their son but for the children still healing physically and emotionally from that night.
